PROFILE

Gaby is the director of Risk101 USA, a company which designs and supports risk and portfolio management software for the financial markets. She moved to Charlotte, NC, to consolidate an American profile for the same software that she used first-hand while managing an options book at one of the biggest banks in Southern Africa.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

RISK101 USA – Director (2011)

As head of the American Risk101 team, Gaby brings with her all the global risk management experience of a software company that has focused on portfolio management and market risk issues for the past twenty-five years.

 

AFRICAN WELCOME CC. – Owner/Co-founder/CFO (2002-2010)

Gaby was co-founder and CFO of a travel service company, a car rental company, and a limousine service company. These three entities employed over 140 staff, providing high-end tours, safaris and group incentive packages to an exclusive segment of the international retail and corporate market.

 

SABBATICAL – 2002-1999

She retired and travelled extensively, managing her international art collection before creating African Welcome CC.

 

NEDBANK – Derivatives/Proprietary trader (1989-1999)

· Gaby managed a fixed interest options and futures fund, building one of the biggest emerging market derivative trading books in Africa.

· Her trading career ended with a flourish, with four record-breaking years of leveraged returns capitalising on the high-volatility trading  environment of the Asian contagion of 1997/1998.

· Her astronomical profits were 1000% over budgeted return in the final year, on top of a steady 150% return for the previous three years.

· Risk management decisions were assessed utilising Risk101 software.

 

BOARD OF EXECUTORS (BoE) – Money market treasury (1987-1989)

Money market activities included cash management and asset allocation.

 

NEDBANK – Manager (KwaZulu Natal) for electronic banking roll out (1982-1987)

· Gaby pioneered and managed the roll out of electronic payment systems for the corporate market to enable straight-through settlements and wage payments.

· She spearheaded the marketing campaign for the system launch.
